"Moose" is an 9 year old ranch gelding that I have owned for the last six years. In that time he has truly worked for a living on a big cow/calf and yearling outfit. We calve out 3,000 mother cows and background and take to grass, just as many yearlings. We do ALL of our cattle work horseback. He has done every job on the ranch that comes up, including gathering big country, calving, branding, sorting, and doctoring all classes of cattle outside. He has been roped off of extensively. He'll run hard to cattle and knows how to work a rope while you're on the ground. He's super cowy and excels at sorting in the alleyway. Moose rides around soft and light and he has a nice handle on him. He has good foot and bone and is an extremely easy keeper. He has been my main horse for riding on calves and doctoring in the feedlot the last two winters, and again this winter. He is a solid ranch horse; not the biggest horse in the string but a real handy size, around 14 hh and 1000lbs. He cinches deep and is plenty stout enough to hold up a long day's work. He is smooth in every gait and walks out and trots like a big horse. NO pedaling needed. Stands great to trim/shoe.He is started on the heel side in the arena and I have hauled him to town to ranch rodeos. He will be best suited for someone who has some basic riding ability at a minimum, but I feel like down the road with a bit more age on him he'll make a really nice mount for a younger/greener, rider/roper to graduate to. If interested at all, Please call or text with any questions or for more information or some video. We can talk about whether or not he'd be a good fit for you. Thanks for your time.
